A Different Approach to Design + Build

We’re KNC Design Group, a boutique design–build firm in San Diego redefining what it means to remodel. From first sketch to final install, we manage every step of the process to bring your vision to life with thoughtful design and exceptional construction.

What began as an interior design studio has evolved into a full-service design–build firm — a natural next step that allows us to merge creativity with construction under one roof. This unique perspective means we see your home differently: every trim detail, layout line, and material choice is considered with both beauty and build quality in mind.

We believe remodeling should feel exciting, not overwhelming. That’s why our team leads with communication, organization, and craftsmanship so you can actually enjoy the process of transforming your home.

And yes, we’re proudly women-owned. Because when it comes to the details, we bring a level of care and precision that sets us apart.

hi!

I'M KARA,
THE CONTRACTOR & PRINCIPAL DESIGNER AT KNC

Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve found pure joy in surrounding myself with beauty and color.

My journey into design began, and still is, with a deep belief that great design can truly change lives. After years of watching the construction process up close, I found myself thinking daily, “I could make this so much better.” So, I decided to do something about it. I became a licensed contractor, bringing my design experience and love for construction together in a way that allows me to be involved in every stage of a project.

For me, great design is about so much more than creating a beautiful space. Our homes are deeply personal, and I never take lightly the trust clients place in me and my team. It's a privilege to be invited into that process, and one I'm grateful for every day.

Let’s create something beautiful together.

Kara grew up in San Diego, CA. After receiving her Art Degree, she spent a few years as a professional graphic designer using color and design for marketing in the action sports industry. Through some trial and error she found her love of construction and design truly met as an interior designer and she has never looked back.

Kara started KNC Design Group in 2020. A little after her first child was born. She recently obtained her contractors license in 2025. She currently lives in Alpine, CA with her husband and two children. Her true passion lies in construction and functionality. It is a cherry on top that she gets to make spaces beautiful with finishes as well.

"Walking a construction site for me is an indescribable feeling. I love being able to envision a completely empty pad with a few 2x4s and make it into something beautiful. To me, it is one of the best feelings in the world."

hi!

I'M KIRSTI,
THE OPPERATIONS AT KNC

Kirsti grew up in Grand Junction, CO and Boise, ID. After graduating from Boise State, she decided to move to sunny San Diego which had always been a dream of hers. Kirsti has an extensive background in banking and operations.

She joined KNC in 2023 and is a wiz at procurement and keeping everything organized on the back end! Kirsti's true passion is traveling and she can often be found out of the country with her husband traveling the world. Though she always responds in a very timely manner, she will likely be doing it from the beaches in Thailand or on a train in England, and we love her for it!

Samantha grew up in Mexico before moving to Chula Vista at age 12, and she's called San Diego home ever since!

For as long as she can remember, she's loved all things design, beauty, and creativity. She's always had a love for numbers and math, too, but her creative side definitely won! That passion led her to earn her bachelor's degree in Interior Architecture and Design.

Samantha believes a thoughtfully designed space can do so much more than just look beautiful. From the way a room flows to the smallest details, great design has the power to bring joy and change the way we experience everyday life.

Outside of work, life is anything but boring! Samantha and her husband have two kiddos who have somehow turned her into their personal assistant and Uber driver. Between soccer, volleyball, and T-ball, they're always on the go!

She's also a total foodie who loves discovering new restaurants and cute local coffee shops. Bonus points if they're as beautiful as they are delicious!

When she's not running between activities, you'll probably find her enjoying a day at Disneyland, cheering on the Padres at Petco Park, or spending time outdoors. She loves a good coastal hike, getting together with friends, and any excuse to enjoy good food and great company!
